My name is John Hart, and HART began with a decision to leave what was familiar and move to Patagonia, Argentina, at 23 years old. I originally came here looking for a different pace of life. What I found was a place that changed the way I viewed travel, adventure, and the things we carry with us. Patagonia has a way of making you slow down. Distances are long, the weather changes quickly, and plans rarely unfold exactly as expected. Over time, I came to appreciate products that weren't just beautiful but genuinely enjoyable to live with and travel alongside.
As I spent more time exploring southern Argentina, I became fascinated by the craftsmanship that exists here. Argentina produces some of the finest leather in the world, yet many of the products being sold lacked a connection to the places and experiences that inspired them. I wanted to create something different, a product that reflected both the craftsmanship of Argentina and the spirit of Patagonia. That idea became HART.
Rather than launching a large collection, I chose to focus on a single product and make it as good as possible. Every HART Weekender is handmade in Argentina using full-grain Argentine leather and a full leather-lined interior. From the materials to the design, every detail is intentional. The result is a bag inspired by movement, travel, and the landscapes that helped shape the brand. HART is more than a leather company. It is a reflection of the experiences, people, and places that inspired its creation.
